ποΈ My guest today is Caitlin Long, Founder and CEO of Custodia Bank, a 22-year Wall Street veteran, and one of the most influential voices in Bitcoin policy and financial regulation.
This was a fantastic episode, and another must watch for Bitcoiners. Caitlin is such an impressive woman, with an amazing range of knowledge, and explains everything so well. Her deep understanding of banking and traditional finance, coupled with her knowledge of Bitcoin (and even stablecoins) was incredible. I didnβt realize I would learn so much about banking, and its history, including topics such as depository institutions, fed master accounts, LIBOR and SOFR. And she did a great job of weaving all the banking/payment rail discussions into how it relates to Bitcoin. It was super interesting to hear her explanation of Operation Chokepoint 2.0 and how she is still fighting the fallout from that. Really learned a ton from her perspectives on the bank secrecy act, stablecoins and CBDCs. Similar to learning about Texas history in your Parker Lewis episode, I learned a ton about Wyoming history and why it is such an independent/forward thinking state that was quick to embrace Bitcoin (had no idea it allowed women to vote 50 years earlier than the US). I also had no clue how early she was to Bitcoin and that she worked with the likes of Trace Mayer and Nick Szabo. This was an absolutely fascinating episode, and despite taking notes, I need to listen to it again since it is packed with so much important information.
I also need to listen to it again Larry... there is so much to unpack there. she's a walking encyclopedia, and so forward looking! thanks for watching as always.
