Takeaways:

• The most dangerous economic moment is a shock that lands on an economy already weakened by its own government. The 1970s stagflation was not caused by oil prices. The Nixon shock and the runaway spending on Vietnam and the welfare state came first. Oil was the match that lit a fire in a house already soaked in gasoline. According to Peter, today the US economy is much stronger than this period and he doesn’t see the war as a devastating damage.

• A leader can have genuinely good instincts and still get talked into things that betray those instincts. Peter’s read on Trump: solid on the economy, real on free speech, not a fan of the Iran war. The question is never just about who is in office. The apparatus beneath any president carries its own agenda, and the question is always whether one person can redirect something that large.

• The doomsday case for AI destroying jobs has been made before. For automation, for the industrial revolution, for computers and the internet. Every single time, jobs multiplied and wages rose. Peter’s escalator analogy cuts through all the noise: yes, people step down when automation replaces their specific role, but the escalator beneath everyone is moving upward. The net direction has always been up, and there is no credible reason to believe this time is different.

• When the loudest voices predicting that AI will eliminate jobs are the same organizations pushing Universal Basic Income, the correct response is to ask what they are selling. The answer Peter gave was the one I could not stop thinking about: get 51% of the population on government transfers, and you have a permanent electoral majority for whoever controls the transfers. The AI panic is not a forecast. It is a political strategy.

• The Cyprus bail-in did not reveal a quirk of Cypriot banking. It revealed the default condition of a world without central bank coverage. What the US, UK, and eurozone did in 2008 was the same thing, just denominated in printed money instead of depositor equity. The central bank is the mechanism that allows banks to take reckless bets while knowing the losses will be socialized. Peter’s term for this -- a counterfeiting cartel -- is precise and uncomfortable for a reason.

• Stablecoins deserve credit from Peter for two things: they reduce the appeal of a CBDC, and they threaten fractional reserve banking by offering fully backed accounts that pay real yield. But they do nothing to fix the inflation-recession cycle of fiat. They are a faster, cheaper way to hold a currency that is still being debased, and they can also be confiscated or censored.

• I thought I cared most about economics. Then Covid happened and I realized that without free speech, every economic argument becomes irrelevant. You cannot protect purchasing power in a world where saying purchasing power is eroding is classified as misinformation. Peter said it plainly: without free speech, we are dead. That is a structural observation about what makes any other freedom worth defending.

• The censorship infrastructure built during Covid has not been dismantled. The bureaucrats who flagged vaccine discussions, who marked commentary on unemployment as disinformation, who built the architecture of coordinated suppression, they’re still in place. Changing who sits in the White House does not change the architecture. And the next time power rotates, those tools get handed to whoever comes next, fully operational.

• Technology is simultaneously the threat and the only viable response to the threat. The same infrastructure that enables government surveillance enables Nostr. The same AI that powers state control powers decentralized publishing. The only real question is whether the builders of open protocols can stay ahead of the builders of closed ones.

• Peter started making videos with an iPhone and two colors of shirts. The lesson is that quality is the byproduct of showing up imperfectly, repeatedly, until something clicks. Perfectionism is just procrastination dressed in professional language.

Takeaways:

• Karla lost 5,000 followers, every client, and every friend overnight for questioning medical mandates. That pile of rubble told her exactly who was real and who wasn’t, and having nothing left to lose gave her the courage to go further. Sometimes the thing that destroys you is the same thing that frees you.

• Karla frames the media as the actual infrastructure of control, not merely one bad actor among many. Bank freezing, political vilification, narrative warfare: none of it works without the media laundering it as truth. Fix the media problem and you start to unravel the whole machine.

• Bitcoin proved its thesis in the trucker convoy under live-fire conditions. Every fiat avenue was shut down: GoFundMe seized, bank accounts frozen. Bitcoin was the only money that actually reached the people it was meant for. That moment in Canada was the real-world thesis statement playing out in real time.

• The government doesn’t have to take your property today for you to not really own it. The slow creep from ‘land acknowledgments’ to actual property seizures follows a deliberate ratchet logic. The same applies to guns, bank accounts, and speech. Each concession is framed as harmless until it’s too late. Real sovereignty means knowing which lines to hold before they’re already gone.

• Sovereign living is a set of skills you build daily, long before you need them. Chopping wood, flying a plane, hunting dinner, driving ice roads: Karla’s family has built a life that requires no permission from any institution to continue. Real independence compounds in ways that money alone can never replicate.

• AI is simultaneously the greatest tool and the greatest trap for entrepreneurs right now. The flood of AI content has destroyed trust on every platform, and the clearest way to stand out is to be more human, more raw, more imperfect. The brands being built right now through authentic voice will be the ones people trust when the tsunami of fake content closes in. There is a narrow window, and it is closing fast.

• Knowing enough to act is wisdom. Knowing everything and being paralyzed by it is its own kind of prison. There are people in the awakened space who consume information about power structures and corruption as though the volume of knowledge is itself protection. It isn’t. You only need to understand enough to make a decision about your own life. Everything beyond that is just fear dressed up as research.

• Children raised with real skills carry a confidence that no curriculum can teach. Watching Karla’s daughter make a fishing rod from a stick and string, reassure her mother about the bear, and take care of them both on her own: that is a confidence story. The most important thing we can give the next generation is the belief that they can figure things out.

• Canada’s MAiD program is the clearest window into where government-controlled healthcare ultimately leads. When the state runs healthcare, the state also runs the math. And at some point the math decides it’s cheaper to help people die than to help them live.

• Darkness, when you look at it long enough, leads a lot of people back to faith, and that may be the most surprising gift of this whole era. Karla put it beautifully: if that level of evil exists, then the opposite must also exist.

• Building on censorship-resistant infrastructure is preparation, not paranoia. Nostr, private keys, owning your social graph: Karla is doing this now, not because she has already been banned again, but because she understands the direction Canada is heading.

John is an entrepreneur who has built and operated ventures across Germany, Czech Republic, Ireland, Costa Rica, and the United States. But what drew me to him had nothing to do with his résumé. I first caught him on a panel at Bitcoin Day Naples conference, with him, John Tarantino and Chris Sullivan, and they were doing the thing that very few people in Bitcoin circles are willing to do: trying to wake people up to the full scope of what’s happening, not just the financial piece. I watched it on YouTube and thought, I need to have this man on my show.

What follows are 8 things that stayed with me. It’s like the residue of a great conversation with a good, smart friend that I’m still processing.

1. The financial system is an energy confiscation machine

This reframe hit me hard because of how precisely John articulated it. The financial system was never designed to manage money. It was designed to siphon off human energy and channel it upward into the control structure. Central banking, the fifth plank of the Communist Manifesto was deliberately erected rather than a natural societal evolution. The money printing is the source of the spring. Everything downstream: big tech, technocracy, the medical industrial complex, feeds off it.

Bitcoin’s relevance in this framing is completely different from the price conversation. An absolutely scarce, unseizable form of money is a plug for the hole through which the control structure feeds itself. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. Looking at it as a better retirement account, or focusing only on it’s “number go up” attribute, is missing the point. Bitcoin is a barrier against the siphoning of human energy over time.

2. You are collateral. There’s a CUSIP to prove it.

At birth, the state registers you. A birth certificate is issued. A trust is opened in your all-caps name; not your name, but a legal entity assigned to you. And that entity is bonded and securitized. John knows this from experience: he went through a decade-long commercial legal dispute and, through a contact, was able to look up his own case number in a CUSIP database — the Committee on Uniform Security Identification Procedures numbering system used for bonds and securities. His case was sitting in a large fund, pre-packaged and pre-determined.

Most people hear this and reach for the conspiracy theory label. That reflex is part of the design. The moment you call it crazy, you stop looking. But the mechanisms are visible if you know where to look… in municipal bond markets, in CUSIP databases, in the all-caps name on your driver’s license that is not, legally, you.

3. Legal is not lawful. Courts are casinos.

This is where John spent a lot of time, and it’s where I had the most to absorb.

We live, he argues, not under natural law or common law, but under Admiralty maritime law — the law of the sea — which is entirely commercial. Everything is contract. Everything is consent. We just don’t know we’re consenting, because we were never taught the language.

The legal system operates like a casino. Walk in without knowing that, and you will never understand why the house always wins. Attorneys are casino ushers: they can guide you between games, help you navigate, argue on your behalf within the rules — but they cannot go against the casino. They work for it. And cases, in large jurisdictions, are often securitized at the front end, with outcomes maneuvered to protect bond values. This is wild. When I got this I was really flabbergasted, and that doesn’t happen often. Justice is really just the branding, while commerce is the function.

The distinction that keeps ringing in my ears: legal is not lawful. A word in the Oxford Dictionary does not mean the same thing as that word in Black’s Law Dictionary. “Information,” in legal language, means evidence of a crime. We are walking through a foreign country, reading none of the signs, consenting to everything, and calling it freedom.

4. False history and the erasure of what we were

Before the conversation got to money and law, it started somewhere much older: with history itself.

John’s working thesis — and he’s careful not to claim certainty — is that most of what we know about the past is constructed. He recommended this YouTube channel to explore some of this false history we’ve been fed. Perhaps 95% of it false or heavily manipulated. The technological level of prior civilizations was likely far higher than the narrative admits. The capitol buildings across the United States are geometrically perfect, built on ley lines, structurally improbable given the official timeline. The world’s fair cities — Omaha, Saint Louis, Chicago — looked like Rome. The structures were already there. The fairs were held in them. Then the narrative was written.

Tesla’s work on free energy was suppressed. Ether — the fifth element, the medium through which energy propagates — was on the periodic table and then quietly removed in the early 1900s. The scarcity narrative that underpins the entire financial extraction system depends on people believing energy is finite. It isn’t. The manufactured scarcity is the lie that makes the extraction feel necessary.

At this point when we talked about free energy, I recommended this great documentary – Thrive 2 – by Foster & Kimberly Gamble, which explores free energy and related breakthrough innovations from around the world.

5. The digital panopticon is the old control structure with a software upgrade

CBDCs are essentially the existing fiat system digitized for frictionless, algorithmic herd management. Digital identity frameworks are the consent-and-control legal structure moving to a checkbox interface, rather than novel tools of surveillance, unlike what most people think. Technocracy isn’t a departure from what came before. It’s the same machine running a faster processor.

John lived in East Berlin and used to take people to the Stasi Museum. He’d show them the hidden cameras, the microphones wired into heaters, the enormous operational apparatus required to surveil the East German population. The Stasi had to work for it. Today, he said, we buy the devices ourselves, carry them everywhere, and pay monthly subscriptions for the privilege. The phone in your pocket knows your GPS coordinates, altitude, velocity, and can be activated remotely, and we chose it because it was convenient.

Convenience is the most effective control mechanism of the digital age. John’s framing: in digital privacy, you can only have two of three: privacy, security, or convenience. Reject convenience. That’s more than a Luddite impulse, it’s the first act of digital self-defense available to everyone right now.

6. Bitcoin can be co-opted at the edges even if the protocol is untouchable

Here’s John’s take on how bitcoin can be co-opted: The Bitcoin protocol is not hijacked, and is not actually what’s under attack. The implementations are; ETFs, KYC exchanges, treasury company stocks, spam flooding the chain, compromised nodes, noise campaigns around protocol debates… these are all attacks on sovereign Bitcoin without touching a single line of code. If you hold Bitcoin through an ETF, you don’t hold Bitcoin. If you bought through a KYC exchange, they have your identity, and if the system needs to flip a switch, they can. The goal is to understand how to operate in and out of that network outside the fiat system, in a peer-to-peer, non-KYC, self-custodied manner, with a node you run yourself.

As John put it: the only thing that compares to allodial title, supreme, unencumbered claim to something, that any of us can achieve right now is bitcoin. When you hold your own keys, nobody can grant it and nobody can take it. That’s the point.

7. The pillars of sovereignty

Across the full conversation, John laid out what he calls the pillars of sovereignty: the categories of life where decentralized personal action creates actual freedom. They aren’t complicated, but they require commitment:

Sovereign money. Hold your own keys. Understand the difference between the protocol and its implementations. Learn to transact peer-to-peer. He mentioned tools such as Vexl and Bisq.

Lawful knowledge. Understand the difference between legal and lawful. Learn how consent operates. Don’t let the casino manage you without knowing you’re in one.

Digital privacy. Sovereign computing. Learn to navigate the digital jungle. Take John’s free beginner’s course, or educate yourself otherwise on this critical topic.

Food and medicine independence. Decouple from centralized supply chains. Grow food. Build community.

Genuine community. The solution to a centralized problem is a decentralized one. Feed yourself, feed your family, trade locally, and the world feeds itself.

None of this requires changing the world. John’s exact words: “all we have to do is change our own lives. The world reflects that back”, and I couldn’t agree more.

8. Fear is the operating system. Consciousness is the threat.

The deepest thing John said, and the thing I think about most, is this: the control structure’s most fundamental lie is that consciousness is produced by the physical. Turn that around, and everything changes. If consciousness creates the physical, if we are energetic co-creators rather than biological accidents, then the immense effort poured into keeping humans small, afraid, and distracted makes complete sense. A population living in fear is a manageable population. A population that knows its own power is ungovernable.

Side note on this topic: I highly recommend to pull on the (amazing) thread represented in the work of Federico Faggin, my readers already know him I believe, and I’m currently reading his second great book – “Irreducible”.

The ontological shock, that first shattering of the worldview you were handed, is the hardest part. John calls it the scary part. A lot of people get stuck there, in what I’d call the black pill, or the “dark night of the soul” phase. But past it is something else entirely: the recognition that the control structure is fragile, that we are far more powerful than we’ve been allowed to believe, and that abundance is the natural state. Scarcity is the manufactured lie.

I left this conversation more convinced than ever that the sovereign individual, the one Bitcoin was always pointing toward, is not primarily a financial project. The financial piece matters enormously, but the full picture is legal literacy, digital privacy, food sovereignty, genuine community, and the internal work of escaping the fear program.

Every person who does that work is one more pixel on the screen shifting toward a different picture.

The Stasi had to work hard to surveil East Germans: hidden cameras, microphones in heaters, entire operations to map people’s lives. Today, citizens buy the surveillance devices themselves, carry them everywhere, and pay monthly subscriptions for the privilege. Rejecting convenience isn’t a Luddite impulse. It’s the primary act of digital self-defense available to everyone right now.

• CBDCs and digital IDs aren’t novel forms of tyranny; they’re the fiat money system and the consent-and-control legal structure being digitized for frictionless, algorithmic herd management. The playbook hasn’t changed. The tools have.

• The exit door is built through decentralized personal action: sovereign money, sovereign computing, lawful knowledge, food independence, and genuine community. You don’t fix the casino from inside the casino.

• Bitcoin can be co-opted at the implementation layer even if the protocol remains untouchable. ETFs, KYC exchanges, treasury company stocks, spam on the chain, compromised nodes, all of these are attack vectors on sovereign Bitcoin without touching a single line of code. Running a node, choosing your implementation deliberately, and understanding the difference between the Bitcoin protocol and its centralized implementations is key for anyone serious about what Bitcoin is actually for.

• Abundance is the natural state and scarcity is the manufactured lie. From Tesla’s suppressed work to free energy harnessed by ancient structures, the narrative that energy is finite exists to justify the financial extraction system.

• When a system needs to be forced on people, that’s not a bug in the design, it’s the confession. The EU’s admission that the digital euro will fail if people can opt out isn’t an embarrassing slip. It’s the entire logic of the project stated plainly: they know people wouldn’t choose this. So choice has to go.

• CBDCs and money are not the same category of thing, even though they both involve numbers on a screen. Money is a tool people use to coordinate their lives. CBDCs are a tool the state uses to coordinate people’s behavior. Calling one the “evolution” of the other is like calling a cage the evolution of a door..

• Political promises to reject CBDCs are not the same as structural protection against them. Most countries that have “said no” are still researching, still piloting, still leaving the door cracked. The US is currently the only country that has passed legislation explicitly prohibiting government research, and even that coexists with a Treasury Secretary who went on record saying he believes in financial surveillance.

• The people occupying the most powerful seats in global finance are often there because of compliance, not competence. The head of the Banque de France getting Bitcoin, gold, US banking history, and CBDCs wrong - all in one panel at the World Economic Forum - isn’t a personal failing. It’s a systemic one. Institutions that reward loyalty over understanding will keep producing exactly this.

• Power built for benevolent hands doesn’t stay in benevolent hands. Christine Lagarde won’t lead the ECB forever. Jerome Powell’s replacement has already proposed introducing a CBDC. The danger isn’t any individual central banker, it’s the permanent expansion of state capacity that each of them builds and then leaves behind.

• The Samourai Wallet case isn’t just about punishing two developers. It’s a signal to everyone else about what happens when you build outside the approved rails. When the administration that claims to support Bitcoin stays silent, that silence is itself a message. It’s the shape of the box they want you to stay inside.

• Coercion scales through infrastructure, not just through law. China forced WeChat and Alipay to implement the digital yuan overnight, producing 800 million “users” who never chose anything. Europe is building the exact same playbook, forcing banks to embed a digital euro tab into every app, so adoption can be manufactured before consent is ever asked for.

• Voluntariness is the thing they cannot replicate, and they know it. People use Bitcoin because they see value and choose it freely. Every CBDC pilot, every stablecoin mandate, every surveillance requirement is an admission that their version of money can’t make that case. Compulsion is what you reach for when the product fails the market test.

• The most important financial policy decisions of our time are buried in 100-page central bank reports, legislative footnotes, and speeches at conferences most people have never heard of. The translation of that material into something the rest of us can understand is not a “nice-to-have”, it’s a form of resistance. You cannot fight what you cannot see.

• Trying to fit genuinely new technology into old regulatory boxes doesn’t modernize the boxes, it destroys what made the technology new. Everything that makes Bitcoin matter comes from it not fitting. The moment it gets fully crammed into the KYC/AML/BSA framework, it becomes a slightly more efficient version of what already exists. That’s not innovation. That’s domestication.

• Katie and her team produced a 250-page submission to New Zealand’s Royal Commission that compiles five years of expert testimony on lessons learned from COVID. It’s free, accessible, and deliberately readable.

• The commissioners had the power to call government decision-makers to testify publicly. They didn’t. Politicians refused to show up, and their evidence was buried under confidentiality orders. Meanwhile, Katie’s side was cross-examined. The commission’s terms of reference are already framed around preparing for the next pandemic, not honestly examining the last one.

• The Australian case against Pfizer and Moderna, arguing the mRNA products were unlicensed GMOs, was thrown out on a standing technicality. Then it emerged the presiding judge had been Pfizer’s barrister in at least five prior cases and had undisclosed pharmaceutical ties. The request for a rehearing with a new judge was rejected. The legal system protected Big Pharma from scrutiny at every turn.

• At least 12 to 13 independent labs have now confirmed DNA contamination in Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. This isn’t fringe science. Kevin McKernan’s work was presented to a Royal Commission. The scientific case is solid. The legal and political will to act on it is not.

• Every coercion - mandates, surveillance, speech restrictions, cashless payments - feeds into a single system when Digital ID becomes the master key. Katie’s Resist Kit breaks this down practically: your data is the new gold, Facebook Marketplace is free because your shopping behavior is more valuable than a transaction cut.

• The three methods social media platforms can use to verify age are: inference data, digital ID upload, or biometric facial scan. That’s the whole point. It’s not child safety, it’s identity verification infrastructure being built in plain sight, with parental goodwill as the cover story.

• Rural Australia is already losing ATMs and bank branches. Legislation protecting access to cash in rural areas expires soon. Nobody is talking about it. When that deadline hits, the infrastructure will simply be gone. This is the slow barrel-filling Katie described, 15-minute cities, CBDCs, cash removal, digital ID, each a crack, and together a flood.

• The rebranding is deliberate. Western populations reject “social credit” as something that happens in China. But carbon footprint scoring per purchase achieves the same behavioral control under a cause most people feel they can’t argue against. The surveillance state is being built with a green ribbon on it.

• A 500-page bill passed through Australian Parliament at shocking speed with bipartisan support. The effect: you can now be prosecuted for speech targeting protected groups, with the definition broad enough that future Royal Commission findings could themselves be in breach of the law. What can’t be said in the report will simply never be known publicly.

• Digital ID, UN Sustainability Goals, Davos, CBDCs, mRNA mandates.. Katie was direct. This is a coordinated plan to consolidate control for the benefit of a few. The people designing it fly private to conferences about reducing your carbon footprint. The hypocrisy isn’t an oversight. It’s a signal of how untouchable they believe they are.

• Bitcoin and decentralized technology don’t fight the system loudly, they route around it. Every choke point they try to create has a decentralized answer. That’s why I kept reinforcing it throughout: educate yourself on these tools, because they are literally designed to make the control infrastructure optional.

• Censorship doesn’t happen when things are going well. It happens when legacy institutions are losing authority and bleeding trust very quickly. The response should be radical transparency, but instead they choose control.

• Australia loves paternalism. The COVID response proved it. Australians actively want the state regulating every aspect of their lives, until it hurts them personally. Then they suddenly ask why the state intervened, but by then they’ve already empowered authoritarianism.

• The center-left and center-right unite to censor populism on both the left and right. It’s not left versus right, it’s the establishment center crushing anyone who threatens their power. The hate speech bill passed because center-left Labor and center-right Liberals joined forces, while One Nation and the Greens opposed it.

• One Nation went from 6% to 26% in the polls in months, higher than the main opposition for the first time in decades. Consistency matters. While every other party flip-flopped, One Nation held the line for 30 years. Australians finally rewarded that.

• The hate speech law enables precrime: banning someone not because they committed a crime, but because authorities think they might commit one in the future. The degree to which this can be abused is obscene, and there’s almost zero oversight.

• Age verification for social media is not about protecting kids, it’s about censoring adults. A kid can access hardcore porn in seconds but can’t use Instagram. If you actually wanted kids off phones, you wouldn’t require surveillance infrastructure that monitors every adult.

• 330 organizations in Germany alone contribute to content controls, not all explicitly censoring, but creating the architecture. This isn’t one conspiracy, it’s thousands of groups funded by governments, NGOs, and intelligence services building the infrastructure to regulate speech.

• The economic situation determines how much government overreach people tolerate. When life is affordable and people feel secure, they forgive the government. When housing is impossible, wages stagnant, and inflation crushing them, they stop tolerating censorship and control.

• Telegram isn’t the free speech platform it claims to be. Centralized platforms can always be captured. Bitcoin and Nostr are the only real hope because of their censorship resistant traits, including the fact that no government can arrest their CEOs.

• We’ve been propagandized to accept that we have to pay to be alive, and this is only a 150-200 year phenomenon coinciding with the central banking era.

• The central banking system is 100 years old and has successfully gaslit generations. 100 years ago people knew how money works and would revolt. Now they make the population zombified and numb through fluoride, EMF, poisoned food, and propaganda so uprising seems impossible.

• Sound money periods throughout history, Rome building aqueducts and trade routes, the Renaissance producing beautiful architecture, America’s 1847-1913 robber baron era with massive GDP growth, all reflect what’s possible when money isn’t corrupted. We had brief glimpses before fiat took over.

• Geoengineering supersedes pharma, food, and money in importance because you can’t have health, wealth, and sovereignty if you’re being poisoned without your consent through aerosolized metals raining down daily.

• Patents from the 1940s onward prove weather modification technology exists. By the Vietnam War, the US military openly admitted to causing rain over jungles as a military strategy. A treaty banned using it against countries, but allows using it on their own populations.

• 32-34 states have now banned geoengineering, but enforcement is the problem since DARPA-level operations don’t answer to state laws. Still, raising awareness through bipartisan bills matters because it brings the conversation forward.

• The only way to offset darkness is by being kind, generous, open-hearted, and raising your consciousness. You create an expanding force field that helps others expand when they collide with it, building higher awareness and precise understanding.

• Decentralization is the main goal for hardcore survivors. Dismantle globalist institutions like WHO, WEF, UN, NATO, and central banks. If pure capitalism flourishes with sound money and velocity picks up from the bottom up, these entities won’t exist much longer.

• Bitcoin can eliminate poverty in literally one generation. When families can store wealth without it being debased, build generational savings, and aren’t constantly stolen from through inflation, there is no poverty.

• Bitcoin is the tip of the sword for awareness and truth on every corrupted system. Once you go up any pyramid, pharma, food, GMOs, surveillance, war, you arrive at the same fiat cabal. Remove that, and the natural order corrects itself.

• Life gives you multiple chances to level up through resets. Ana went through the Soviet collapse at birth, orphanage placement at 4, father’s death at 11, healing transformation at 13, adoption at 16, and COVID awakening as an adult. Each one a portal to the next version of herself.

• Two parallel worlds are emerging: centralized dystopian control versus decentralized sovereign freedom. COVID made it impossible to ignore anymore. You have to choose which world you’re building toward.

• Fiat currency carries the energy of its creation: wars, theft, destruction, death. Bitcoin carries a different frequency. Money isn’t neutral; it’s rooted in either constructive or destructive force.

• Hope is Bitcoin’s most profound offering. For someone who watched their grandmother’s life savings become worthless paper, who lived through collapse and poverty and trauma, Bitcoin represents a future where this can’t happen again. That hope is priceless.

• The housing crisis persists because of suffocating regulation layers: local planning laws, state water/sewerage involvement, stamp duty, federal capital gains tax, and government’s solution is throwing money at housing projects rather than removing the regulatory stranglehold.

• The government says “we will take your money, we will take half of it, and we will give you a very, very small fraction back if you do what we say with your children when we say it”, the “no jab no pay” law means government has custody of your children, not you.

• Antic currently has a bill before parliament to remove “no jab no pay” laws and has been asking questions in estimates about childhood vaccine testing, discovering they’re not getting proper placebo-controlled tests, which is appalling but unsurprising.

Bob describes it as a moment of clarity, a calling, what today we might call “a download”. Sitting at his desk, he felt an unmistakable instruction take shape, find the children who need help the most, give them food, shelter, education, protection, and love, and do it for the rest of your life. He didn’t have a blueprint; he had no funding, no organization behind him. He only had a responsibility that, once downloaded & seen, could not be unseen.

A few years later, Bob arrived in El Salvador in the middle of a civil war, at a time when major international organizations were leaving because it was too dangerous to stay. It was there that he began building what would become known as the the House of Life. Being persistent and deeply committed to his cause, the government initially entrusted him with one child while keeping an eye on him. Then came four more children, then two more. All abandoned, all in danger, all likely to die if someone did not intervene. Bob paid for everything himself, raising children in a war zone while running a business thousands of miles away to finance God’s vision and his mission.

Eventually, his own board told him to stop expanding and focus on the first twenty-eight children. Breaking abuse cycles requires depth and rebuilding of trust, not scale. Amazingly, those twenty-eight children are now in their mid-forties, and none of them abandoned their own children. None of them repeated the abuse they experienced.

Children as Targets of Gang Violence

Before El Salvador’s recent transformation, gangs operated with near-total impunity, and children were among their primary targets. Gang members would come to family homes and demand access to young girls under the pretense of “protection,” knowing that refusal could mean death for the parents. Many families complied out of fear. Children were trafficked within their own communities, repeatedly abused, sold, and in some cases subjected to ritualistic violence that left deep physical and psychological scars. Bob has taken in children bearing burn marks, cuts, and signs of systematic abuse linked to satanic rituals, experiences so dark that most societies refuse to acknowledge them. The violence functioned as a normalized system of terror, sustained by silence, fear, and the absence of meaningful protection.

Over the years, Bob worked closely with trauma specialists, including world-renowned child psychiatrists from Harvard, notably with Alexandra Harrison mentioned in our interview, to evaluate and support the children coming into his care. Their conclusion challenged a foundational assumption of modern aid culture: Trauma therapy alone does not work if a child returns to an unsafe environment, and healing does not begin with talking, it begins with protection. Only when a child feels consistently safe does the nervous system calm enough for healing to take place. Structure, predictability, responsibility, and belonging do more than weekly sessions layered on top of chaos.

How UN/UNICEF Entrenched Child Abuse

One of the most damaging forces Bob has witnessed did not come from gangs, but from international policy and global organizations. A Harvard Bucharest Early Intervention Project, conducted in some of the worst orphanages in the world which sadly abused the orphanages too, led to a sweeping global conclusion that children were safer in family environments than in institutions, even if those environments were the source of their traumatic abuse. On the basis of this, UNICEF and other UN-affiliated organizations such as USAID incentivized governments to dismantle children’s homes and return children to their communities at almost any cost. In practice, this meant sending children back to the very environments where they had been raped, trafficked, or abused. Homes that actually worked were closed because they did not fit the ideology. Across Central America and Africa, children were pushed back into danger and, in many cases, onto the streets.

El Salvador’s Shift in Security and Child Protection

Today, in El Salvador, fewer than nine hundred children are in protective custody in a country of over six million people, and the number of available homes has fallen by more than half in the past decade. But the trajectory is positive; Under President Nayib Bukele, El Salvador has undergone a dramatic positive transformation. Gang members and abusers who once operated with total impunity are now imprisoned, communities are safer and children can walk to school. But every solution exposes a new problem. Many of the imprisoned gang members had children. Those children are now abandoned, unwanted by extended families and communities still afraid of their lineage. Bob recognizes the pattern, as he began his work during the civil war. He believes that a new lost generation is now emerging, children of incarcerated gang members, with nowhere to go. Therefore, Bob’s seeking more financial support these days, to be able to invest in more houses of life and more shelters for lost children.

How Trust Is Rebuilt After Extreme Abuse

One of Bob’s most counterintuitive insights is that the most important people in any children’s home are the eighteen-year-olds who stay. Traumatized children do not trust adults, as they failed them first. But they do trust other children. New arrivals do not ask staff if they are safe, they ask the older kids: “Is there food here? Do they touch you here? Can you go to school? Are you protected here?”. Trust spreads horizontally before it ever moves vertically, which is why the House of Life does not force children out when they turn eighteen. They’re welcome to stay and support the younger generation, and many of them do.

There is structure and rules at House of Life that would make many Western observers uncomfortable… No cell phones before eighteen, no phones without jobs to pay for service. At the House of Life privileges are earned and consequences are enforced. The girls themselves defend this structure, and many say it is the first time in their lives that rules are consistent and boundaries are real. Structure, in this context, is a framework to prepare them for life, rather than a punishment.

Preparing Girls for Adult Life

The future of the House of Life shifted when Bitcoiners began to get involved; they donated land, and it wasn’t charity, it was part of a plan to teach ownership, build homes, and teach the girls valuable skills. The girls also started earning an income, and saving half of it in Bitcoin. When a girl accumulates enough to help build a home for another teenage mother, she receives her own property. The process repeats which creates a multiplying system of responsibility.

Right now, Bob needs fifty thousand dollars to expand one House of Life from eight girls to sixteen, doubling capacity without losing the family structure that makes it work. For perspective, U.S. border holding facilities spend roughly eight hundred dollars per day per child. House of Life cares for a mother and baby for less than eight hundred dollars per month, with ninety-six percent of donations going directly to the children. The math is simple.

Bob followed a calling that demanded more than belief. He committed his life to it and remained when there were no guarantees, no applause, and no institutional support. Thirty-five years on, the evidence lives in men and women who broke generational cycles of abuse. This is what happens when a calling is answered and lived out.

My takeaways: 

• Bob received a divine calling at age 24 to serve abandoned children, transforming from someone who didn’t care about kids into someone who dedicated his entire life to rescuing and raising them in El Salvador.

• The program has served children for 35 years, with the original 28 kids now around 45 years old, none of whom have abandoned or abused their own children - breaking the cycle completely.

• The Harvard Bucharest orphanage study led to catastrophic policies where UNICEF and UN organizations incentivized governments to remove children from orphanages and return them to abusive environments, causing immense harm across Africa and beyond.

• El Salvador’s transformation under the Bukele administration has dramatically improved child safety by imprisoning gang members and abusers.

• The greatest resource in any children’s home is the 18+ year olds who stayed, as traumatized children arriving don’t trust adults but will believe other kids who tell them about safety, food, education, and protection from abuse.

• Creating a protected, loving environment with opportunities is more therapeutically effective than weekly trauma therapy sessions where children return to unsafe environments, according to Harvard trauma specialists working with the House of Life.

• Some children of gang members are now abandoned as their parents are imprisoned, creating a new lost generation similar to children abandoned during the civil war, with insufficient homes to care for them.

• Only 900 children are in protective custody in El Salvador (population 6 million), and the number of available homes has decreased by more than half in the past decade due to misguided international policies.

• International aid organizations spend $800 per day on each child in US border holding facilities, while Bob’s program provides comprehensive care for a mother and baby for less than $800 per month - 60 times more efficient with 96% going directly to children.

• Bitcoiners are providing land for homes, funding construction, teaching skills, and creating a multiplying system where girls save half their earnings in Bitcoin until they can build a home for another teen mom, then receive their own property.

• Bob needs $50,000 to expand House of Life capacity from 8 to 16 girls, allowing them to serve twice as many teenage mothers and their babies while maintaining the intimate family atmosphere.

• The vision includes building senior living centers next to future Houses of Life, where elderly Americans can live with purpose for half the cost of US nursing homes while helping care for babies and learning Spanish.

• Girls cannot have cell phones until age 18 and only if they have jobs to afford service, teaching responsibility and the value of earning privileges rather than entitlement.

• Some girls do find healthy relationships and marriage, with Bob encouraging them to commit to good partners given how rare they are to find.

• Real change happens not through hoping others will fix problems, but through individuals answering calls to action and building solutions, even when they seem impossible or receive no initial support.

• Milei’s narrative shifted Argentina’s culture from victimhood and class warfare to individual responsibility and hope, changing how people view their role in society.

• True Bitcoiners are identifiable by their values: questioning the state, valuing individual sovereignty and freedom, understanding Bitcoin as a movement rather than just technology.

• Bitcoin adoption requires different strategies for different audiences: merchants need payment benefits first, individuals need progressive onboarding through Lightning before self-custody.

• KYC and exchanges are acceptable as temporary bridges for onboarding, but the end goal must always be self-custody and decentralization or Bitcoin becomes captured.

• Augustin’s goal is grassroots, pleb-focused adoption rather than making rich people richer. Protecting Bitcoin requires massive adoption by everyday people who understand its values.

• Technology education often comes with a responsibility for your family and tribe’s education too, leaving room for trust in communities.

• Walk the talk: “Eat what you cook.” If you push Bitcoin, use Bitcoin. If you advocate self-custody, practice self-custody. Demonstrate values through action, not words.
